109/365 – Family Style

I recently found myself in the Middle East again, seated at a large, round table overflowing with food.  Family style feasts such as the one pictured here are common throughout the region, where ensuring that those at your table are well fed is an essential part of life.  There is something meaningful and satisfying about sitting down at a table with friends, family and at times even strangers, to share plates of fresh, wholesome food.  The flavors and textures and colors regale the senses and lower barriers, connecting people in ways that very few other things can.
